A French revolutionary of a different variety, Yves Saint Laurent found himself, at 21, at the helm of one of the most revered Maisons in the history of fashion. Within a year, Saint Laurent used his youth, confidence, and talent to eschew the New Look and introduce the world to the Trapeze line--modernizing womenswear and changing the course of fashion. After establishing his own Maison in 1961, he would go on to become the first couturier to create a ready-to-wear collection, pioneer the trouser suit, and champion diversity on and off the catwalk. Today, the Maison continues Saint Laurent's legacy by working to revolutionize its practices, contributing to the circular economy, and reducing its environmental impact. 

One of the ways Saint Laurent is doing this is by donating surplus ready-to-wear fabrics to fashion schools and charitable organizations and working with a group to recycle its textile remnants into new products. Additionally, Saint Laurent has brought the majority of its leather cutting into the atelier, minimizing the Maison's waste and using its cutoffs in the production of small leather goods--making Saint Laurent wallets, bags and shoes beautifully impactful in more ways than one.
